That penalty.
Sterling, vs Shakhtar, tripping himself up with acres of space around him. Possibly the worst penalty decision I've seen in over 40 years of watching football.

What a fucking cunt, why didn't he own up and what the fuck are the officials on the goal line doing?

Sven Roeder 7:49 Thu Nov 8
Re: THAT penalty.
Didn’t Robbie Fowler tell a ref it wasn’t a pen at Highbury one night?
Liverpool still took it and scored

As said these behind goal refs (spectators) are pointless
Bring in VAR FFS

VAR please

Re: THAT penalty.
When was the last time you saw a defender admit it was a foul when a blatant penalty wasn't given? - it doesn't happen.

For that reason I don't think Sterling deserves any stick for not owning up. It's not his job.

The ref and penalty box ref shouldn't work again. Not just in football, but anywhere, ever.

All that said, if one of our players did it, I'd want them to own up.

Far Cough 8:19 Thu Nov 8
Re: THAT penalty.
Pee Wee, it's not like he felt the defenders foot brush him and then dived, he literally kicked the turf and tripped himself up, defender never touched him, I would be embarrassed if that was me

RM10 8:25 Thu Nov 8
Re: THAT penalty.
its the two officials that should be embarrassed not the player

Pee Wee 8:26 Thu Nov 8
Re: THAT penalty.
It was embarrassing, but he didn't cheat.

A defender tripping a striker but keeping quiet when ref says no penalty, that's pretty common and the defender doesn't get expected to own up.

Like I said, I'm split, because I'd want our players to own up if they had done it... But I still think Sterling doesn't deserve the stick he's getting... For not telling ref

Far Cough 7:20 Thu Nov 8

Firstly he didnt deliberately kick the turf, he went to dink it and cocked it up.

Secondly, name me one defender who has said to a ref - no is was a penalty when it wasnt given.

People blatantly cheat all the time in football but you want to call him out for falling over?

If it was anyone other than Sterling we would only be taking about the ref.

Re: THAT penalty.
Sterling has form for being basically a bit of a cunt on and off the pitch already, so hardly a surprise, though he should be very embarrassed about this one.

I shudder any time one of our players goes to ground easily and am thankful that we're not actually that bad generally.

Spurs are probably the worst in England for diving, but even they'd struggle to pull off one like last night's that in hindsight, you have to laugh at. Absolutely fucking useless officials :o)

Grumpster 8:34 Thu Nov 8
Re: THAT penalty.
And he sort of did cheat by not owning up at the time.

Far Cough 8:37 Thu Nov 8
Re: THAT penalty.
I never said he DELIBERATELY kicked the turf, he kicked the turf for whatever reason and tripped himself up

It's not like it's a one off for him is it? he has form for diving and this one is the icing on the cake

I wonder if you would be so sympathetic towards him in a few weeks time when we play city and he wins a penalty by diving?

Bloke's an utter cunt

Re: THAT penalty.
The Robbie Fowler dive should be seen in context. An Arsenal player was booked for diving in the first half and Fowler thinking he would be booked tried to disown his dive which he probably did as a reflex action. The irony was that he was given a fair play award.

Re: THAT penalty.
So this is about Sterling, not what happened, glad we cleared that up.

But I thought he didnt dive? Make your mind up.

El Scorchio 11:53 Thu Nov 8
Re: THAT penalty.
He fell over. Ref gave a pen. He didn’t ask for it or pretend he’d been fouled. Not his fault.

Fault of the officials.

Sterling is a decent lad and a quality footballer, typical little englander brexiteer comments in here about him from the usual racists.

Re: THAT penalty.
Why is Sterling such a cunt off the pitch?

What has he done?

Sven Roeder 12:24 Fri Nov 9
Re: THAT penalty.
He bought his Mum a house
He left Liverpool as he fancied winning lots of trophies

No they're separate things, that penalty last night and his propensity for diving which he has form for
